Peter Squires regularly contributes to the annual conference of the British Society for Criminology.

In 2005 he was invited by a group of Gun advocacy academics to participate in a symposium on Firearms and Self Defence as a Human Right at the George Mason University Law School in Arlington Virginia/Washington DC. 

In 2012 he gave the keynote presentation to the Dutch Society for Criminology Annual Conference (in Leiden) on:  ‘The Politics of Criminalisation’.
